The laboratory is devoted to thermal analysis of materials, determining changes of physical and/or chemical properties of constituent substances and/or reaction products in dependence on external temperature. With respect to type of investigated material the following properties can be measured: enthalpy of system changes, temperatures of phase transformation, melting, glass transition, demagnetization, evaporation and sublimation. Laboratory can be used for determination of substance purity, for the study of equilibrium diagrams and polymorphism, for determination of oxidation induction times and for measurement of reactions kinetics and kinetics of phase transformation.                 






Perkin Elmer DSC 8500:

DSC 8000 Differential Scanning Calorimeter is double-furnace, power compensation calorimeter which gives higher accuracy and sensitivity for many applications.

Specification:

  • Two independent furnaces: one for measured and one for the reference samples
  • Temperature of the sample can be measured directly independent on the reference

Materials:

Steels (construction, electrotechnical), weld materials and welding influenced zones - study of phase transformation kinetics, recrystallisation Currie temperature.
Non-ferrous metals and alloys (crystalline/nanocrystalline, amorphous) - study of phase transformation at different heating rates, kinetics of phase transformation.
Powder metals - analysis of phase transformation in powders and during powders sintering different atmospheres.
Low-melting metals and alloys - determination of phase changes, melting and evaporation temperatures. Thermal capacity measurement of solids and liquids.
Ceramic (construction, electro-ceramic a bio-ceramic) - study of processes connected to sintering.
