Structural and functional ceramics The research in the field of Structural and Functional Ceramics (Department of Electroceramics and Department of Structural Ceramics) is focused on the development, microstructure characterization, testing of mechanical properties and fracture behavior of advanced ceramics, ceramic matrix composites, nano-composites, layered composites and nanocomposite coatings designed for structural, functional and bio-medical applications. Additional research areas include high temperature behavior of brittle materials - creep, slow crack growth, oxidation, but also failure analysis of brittle materials, life-time and reliability predictions in brittle materials and pre– and standardization activities in the frame of ESIS, CEN and VAMAS. |
